The New Orleans Pelicans have locked up one of their starters for another three years, coming to terms with Saddiq Bey on a $55 million extension.

Bey came back last year after missing the entire 2024-25 season with a torn ACL. All he did was post a career-high 17.7 points per game, playing his physical 3-and-D game. He averaged over 31 minutes a night, and started 64 of his 72 games with the Pels in his first season there.

In five years in the NBA, the 6'8" Bey has averaged 14.8 ppg, 5.3 boards and 35.5% from three-point range.

As noted by Pelicans beat writer Will Guillory, the team are big fans of Bey both on and off the court.

The 27-year-old arrived in New Orleans last year and embraced the city and the team's culture. He stepped up as a reliable veteran leader, and openly expressed his loyalty and strong desire to stay with the organization long-term. He gets his wish, for at least another three years. And at just over $18M AAV, it's a good deal for the Pels as well.
