NBA Rumors: James Dolan Could Sell Knicks In Near Future

Now here's something that New York Knicks fans can get excited about! According to a longtime MSG analyst, James Dolan could be ready to sell the team "sooner than later"... even as soon as next year.

Jonathan Boyar told CNBC that Knicks & Rangers parent MSG Sports is likely to sell after its Las Vegas concert venue MSG Sphere is completed next year.

“We think it’s likely that after that is done, James Dolan, who controls the company, will sell the teams.”

But Boyer said from a business standpoint, "the best thing that Dolan could have done over the past decade, has been to not sell the team. It's essentially just gone up and up and up in value."

Knicks fans are more concerned, of course, with the product on the court, and have long blamed the meddling owner Dolan for destroying the once-revered franchise.

From disrespecting franchise icons like Patrick Ewing and Charles Oakley, to handing out ridiculous contracts, to hiring Isiah Thomas as coach/GM, who turned the team into a complete laughing stock, Dolan has angered Knicks fans for nearly a quarter of a century.

But before fans in the Big Apple can start celebrating, take note that Natalie Ravitz, senior VP of communications and marketing at MSG, responded today with, “We have no plans to sell either of the teams.”

Knicks fans can still dream, can't they?
