NBA Rumors: Mavericks Forward Could Be Traded

Due to his excellent season so far, Dallas Mavericks forward Dorian Finney-Smith has raised his trade value, according to Callie Caplan of The Dallas Morning News. Due to this, there's a distinct possibility that we could see the Mavericks take advantage of this and move him.

Finney-Smith is eligible for unrestricted free agency this offseason and is due for a nice raise from his current $4 million salary. This is another reason why we could see Dallas decide to trade him. It would be better to get a sweet return for him than potentially losing him for nothing over the summer.

Finney-Smith has been far more effective offensively this campaign. In 46 games, he has averaged 10.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 2.0 assists. Throughout his entire 360-game career with the Mavericks, he has averaged 7.8 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per contest. Thus, he is on pace to have the best season of his career. It really couldn't have come at a better time for him, either.

At this time, the Mavericks currently have a 27-20 record and are fourth in the Western Conference. Thus, they aren't in a position to necessarily sell, so they would want to improve their roster if they move him. Alas, we will have to wait and see what ends up occurring from here.
