Trade: Boston Celtics Get Their Backup Center

The Boston Celtics fell short in their bid to land Jakob Poeltl from the San Antonio Spurs, but, undeterred, Brad Stevens has swung a deal today with the Oklahoma City Thunder for center Mike Muscala.

As noted by ESPN's Tim Bontemps, Muscala gives the C's a floor-spacing big; Muscala is hitting on 39.4% of his threes this season.

The 10-year veteran will serve as additional depth in the big man rotation behind Al Horford and Robert Williams.

Muscala was getting 14.5 minutes per game for the Thunder this season, averaging 6.2 points and 3.1 rebounds, right around his career marks. He has a lifetime average of 37.9% from distance.
