Update: Stephen Curry Out Multiple Games With Hamstring Injury

Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry

The Golden State Warriors opened their Western Conference Semifinals series with a victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday night, but the win came with a major setback—Stephen Curry exited the game in the first half with a hamstring injury and did not return.

Head coach Steve Kerr indicated after the game that Curry would likely miss Game 2, raising concerns about the severity of the issue.

On Wednesday, further clarity emerged when ESPN’s Shams Charania reported the results of Curry’s MRI.

"Golden State’s Stephen Curry has suffered a Grade 1 left hamstring strain and will be sidelined for Game 2 against Minnesota on Thursday, sources tell ESPN. This marks the first muscle strain of Curry’s career, making his recovery timeline uncertain as he undergoes this type of rehab for the first time."

Recent updates suggest that Curry will be sidelined at least through Game 4 of the Warriors' second-round playoff series against the Timberwolves.

The Warriors will now have to navigate at least one playoff game without their leader, a potentially pivotal absence in their postseason run. In Curry’s limited 12-minute appearance on Tuesday, Gary Payton II stepped into a larger role, logging 25 minutes but contributing only eight points, five rebounds, and four assists.

Golden State still secured a 99-86 win thanks to strong performances from Buddy Hield (24 points), Jimmy Butler (20 points), and Draymond Green (18 points). However, Curry’s absence looms large as the series progresses.

Now that he is officially ruled out through games 2-4, the Warriors will need to adapt without their star guard for the foreseeable future.
