Marc Gasol Has Narrowed His Focus to Two Teams

2019 NBA Championship parade MVP, Marc Gasol has narrowed his search down for a new contract to two teams, the Los Angeles Lakers or re-signing with the Toronto Raptors.

Both options are intriguing on different levels. Gasol was an integral piece during the 2019 championship run in Toronto and last season was no different as the big Spaniard averaged 7.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.3 assists during 43 starts in 44 contests. Gasol's defensive abilities and high basketball IQ make him a perfect teammate and he fit in seamlessly with the Raptors.

While heading back to start more games for the East contender makes a ton of sense, you can't knock Gasol for considering other teams. Tough life when you have the option to choose between the last two championship teams.

The Lakers know the Gasol family well after Marc's older brother Pau spent seven seasons in purple and gold. Marc would already have most of his questioned answered about what it's like to be a Laker. Losing Dwight Howard opened up a spot at center in Los Angeles and Gasol's game would compliment LeBron and company. Some would argue the Lakers are the best fit for the 6'11 center next season.

Expect Gasol's next contract to be announced either Sunday night or into early next week. While the Raptors and Lakers appear to be the heavy favorites, the Golden State Warriors also continue to show interest.

It always feels good to be wanted.
