Thunder and Suns Talking Blockbuster Trade

Chris Paul has been one of the hottest names on the rumor mill and things just went up a level. According to reports, the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Phoenix Suns have discussed a huge trade that would send Paul to the desert.

Brian Windhorst is one of the best in the game, so there's certainly some substance to this one. The Thunder are heading into a rebuild and moving Paul and his big salary off their books is step one. The veteran point-guard has this year and next on his current deal at roughly $40 million per season.

Windhorst reports:

Talks have been ongoing and continued to gather traction but there is no deal imminent, sources said. There is currently a moratorium on trades as the NBA goes through procedures to start next season ahead of the league's draft next week.

The Thunder have given star players like Paul George and Russell Westbrook input on trade destinations in the past and have shown an openness to work with Paul on a trade now, sources said.

The Suns would be open to moving anyone not named Devin Booker or Deandre Ayton, and have the cap flexibility and the draft picks to facilitate the deal. Expect to hear names like Kelly Oubre Jr and Mikal Bridges a part of the deal.

The Suns haven't been to the playoffs in a decade, that soon could be changing if Chris Paul is added to their mix. Expect Paul to have some say on the matter, let's wait and see if playing in Phoenix made his list.
