Rumor: Golden State Warriors Interested In Joe Ingles

The Warriors are looking to augment their roster and return to title contention. According to The Athletic's Marcus Thompson II, Golden State will be interested in Utah's Joe Ingles should he be placed on the trading block.

The potential of an Ingles trade first broke when Bleacher Report's Jake Fischer reported that the Jazz was mulling over clearing cap space. Utah recently re-signed Mike Conley on a three-year, $72.5 million deal.

Ingles, 33, finished second in Sixth Man of the Year voting this past season and helped propel the Jazz to the best record in the NBA. He averaged 12.1 points, 4.7 assists and 3.6 rebounds per game last season, and was a marksman on the perimeter. The Australian shot 45.1% from three — fifth-best in the league — and an astounding 67.2 true shooting percentage, which was good enough for third-best in the association.

With a healthy Golden State team expected to suit up next season, the addition of Ingles would be incredibly auspicious. Oftentimes the primary playmaker for the Jazz, his methodical decision-making and elite shooting prowess would compliment Stephen Curry and the Warriors exceptionally.

The Warriors recently signed Otto Porter Jr., 28, but the former Magic forward has played a combined 42 games in the last two seasons.

A potential deal between the Jazz and Warriors would be difficult, considering Ingles' $13 million cap hit in 2021-2022.
