Veteran Robin Lopez Signs With Orlando Magic

The Orlando Magic have signed veteran Robin Lopez to a one-year, $5 million contract.

At this stage of his NBA career, Lopez is more of a role player who can come off the bench. It is never a bad thing to have an experienced player as a depth piece, as they can help mentor the younger players. Given the fact that Lopez has played over 900 games and has 14 seasons under his belt, he certainly fits that description well.

In 71 games this season with the Washington Wizards, the 33-year-old averaged 9.0 PPG while coming off the bench the vast majority of the time. He also went on to average 3.8 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game, too. Those aren't necessarily jaw-dropping statistics, but again, it is perfectly respectable from a role player.

This will be the eighth team Lopez is joining, so it is fair to state that he is a journeyman.
