Joe Johnson Still Open To NBA Return

Even at 40 years old, Joe Johnson is still interested in an NBA comeback. The former NBAer confirmed this in an interview with TMZ. He certainly has been raising some eyebrows with his play in the BIG3, as he has won back-to-back MVPs.

Even with his stellar play in the BIG3, this would be a huge obstacle for Johnson to overcome. The last time he played in the NBA was during the 2017-18 season with the Utah Jazz and Houston Rockets. In 32 games with the Jazz, he averaged 7.3 PPG, 3.3 rebounds and 1.4 assists. He then followed that up with 6.0 PPG, 2.8 RBG and 1.7 APG as a member of the Rockets.

In 2019, he attended training camp with the Detroit Pistons, but ended up being cut before the start of the season. He also worked out for the Milwaukee Bucks in April, but a deal did not come into fruition.

It would be great to see the veteran come back, though. During his strong NBA career, he played in seven All-Star games and made the All-NBA Third Team in 2010.

In 1,276 career games between the Boston Celtics, Phoenix Suns, Atlanta Hawks, Brooklyn Nets, Miami Heat, Jazz and Rockets, Johnson averaged 16.0 PPG, 4.0 rebounds and 3.9 assists. We will have to wait and see if he can add to these totals.
