NBA Rumors: 3 Names To Watch As Cavs Primed To BUY At Trade Deadline

The Cleveland Cavaliers have been perhaps the biggest surprise in the NBA this season, playing an exciting up-tempo style with a ton of defense, that's led them to a 19-12 record, and 3rd spot in the Eastern Conference.

The hot start has many Cleveland insiders believing that the team will be buyers at the trade deadline. Cavs beat reporter Chris Fedor confirms that, and has three names to watch for.

Fedor told the HoopsHype podcast on Wednesday that he can see the Cavs looking for some key pieces around the margins, to build on the primary core of Evan Mobley-Jarrett Allen-Darius Miles-Laurie Markkanen.

“Caris LeVert is a name to watch there. I think if the Brooklyn Nets decide that they want to make some changes, Joe Harris is somebody the Cavaliers would be very interested in. Terrence Ross of the Orlando Magic fits the bill as well.”

Harris has been rumored to be possibly on the trade market, as has LeVert

Collin Sexton, out for the year with a torn meniscus, is one key trade piece. He becomes a restricted free agent at season's end after the team declined giving him a rookie extension before the season.

One of the other assets they could offer up would be their 2022 first-round pick: "They may be more willing to give (that) up because it doesn’t look like it’s going to be a high lottery pick the way that many people predicted coming into this year. They may be willing to part with that with some protections and something along those lines."

With a 6-game win streak and a rapidly advancing rebuild, look for the Cavaliers to make some noise at the trade deadline, and to continue their ascension in the East.
