Lakers Keeping Player Around

The Los Angeles Lakers will be signing Stanley Johnson to a third 10-day contract.

This is excellent news for Johnson, as it means that the 25-year-old is impressing the franchise enough for a third chance. If he continues to play this well, one has to wonder if the Lakers will opt to sign him to a contract for the remainder of the season.

In nine games with the Lakers thus far, Johnson is averaging 5.4 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.1 assists. With that, he has also been averaging just over 20 minutes per night, so Los Angeles clearly is beginning to trust him on the court.

Although Johnson is still young, he also has a lot of overall experience at the NBA level. In 380 career games between the Detroit Pistons, New Orleans Pelicans, Toronto Raptors, and Lakers, he has averaged 6.2 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per contest.

We will now have to wait and see if Johnson earns himself another contract from here.
