NBA Rumors: New Team Emerges As Favorite To Land Jerami Grant

He's undoubtedly the most popular name making the rounds on this year's trade market. Jerami Grant is on just about every team's radar, but according to one report, the Washington Wizards have emerged as the favorite to land him.

As noted by Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report, there are a number of reasons why "several league personnel" peg the Wizards as a favorite to land Grant: "He hails from the D.C. area, his father Harvey played for the franchise from 1988-93 and again from 1996-98." On top of that, the Wizards’ first-year head coach Wes Unseld Jr. also coached Grant as an assistant with the Nuggets.

Although the Pistons have a high asking price due to the high demand for Grant, the theory proposed here is that either Deni Avdija or Rui Hachimura would have to go to Detroit, along with the $9.7M expiring contract of Montrezl Harrell.

The Wizards tore out of the gate this season to a 10-3 start, buoyed by their numerous additions from the Russell Westbrook trade. But they've since settled more in and around the .500 mark, in the heart of the Play-In area of the playoff picture. Adding a scorer of Grant's ability to the frontcourt would be a nice boost for the Wiz.
