NBA Rumors: This Dallas Maverick "Drawing Significant Interest" On Trade Market

With free agency around the corner for two key Dallas Mavericks, the team needs to make a decision before the trade deadline. A report today from Michael Scotto at HoopsHype says one of those, Dorian Finney-Smith, has teams burning up the phone lines with Dallas.

The 28-year-old Finney-Smith "is a hot name who’s drawing significant interest on the trade market," according to Scotto. "He’s a movable salary at $4 million, he’s got the size to play both forward spots, and his defense and ability to shoot the three-ball intrigue rival teams. Those types of attributes are exactly what pretty much every team in the league is looking for."

Finney-Smith is hitting free agency at just the right time, as he's averaging a career-high 10.5 points while shooting 38.8% from three, and playing superior defense.

Jalen Brunson is also set to become a free agent after the season, as noted by Scotto, and his meteoric ascension this year as a legit 2nd point guard behind Luka Doncic, and often-times alongside him, means he is going to get paid, and the Mavs are unlikely to let him go.

Therefore, says Scotto, "rival executives think there could be an opportunity to pounce here" on Finney-Smith.
