NBA Rumors: Trade "Chatter" For San Antonio Spurs Star

This one will not go over well with San Antonio Spurs fans, but according to NBA insider Brian Windhorst, their star guard Dejounte Murray could soon be on the trade block.

“There’s been some chatter in the league about whether the Spurs would be willing to trade him. Maybe not during the season but next summer”

On his Hoop Collective podcast, Windhorst explained, "There's kind of a belief that the Spurs have two layers of young players: They have (the mostly 25-27-year-old layer) Derrick White, Dejounte Murray, Lonnie Walker... Jakob Poeltl;  And then they have the (19-22-year-olds) Devin Cassell, Josh Primo, Keldon Johnson level. There's been some kind of discussion that the Spurs might move out that sort of older-younger layer and then re-commit (to the younger layer) and do a full rebuild.

"When I talk with executives, there are some teams that are like, 'We're preparing to make an offer if he might become available."

No doubt, as the 25-year-old Murray has become a triple-double machine, with three of them in his last 6 games, and 9 of them this season overall. He's having a career year, averaging 19.3 points—the 5th straight season he's increased his scoring average since coming into the league—along with 8.9 assists, more than double his career average, and 8.5 rebounds, also far above his career mark.

If they were to consider trading Murray this offseason, Windhorst adds, "man, they would be absolutely selling high."
