NBA Rumors: Wizards Going "Big Game Hunting" At Trade Deadline

Will Bradley Beal re-up with the Washington Wizards this summer? That question looms large for the franchise, and rumors are that, in order to circumvent their star player from leaving, they'll be going "big-game hunting" this coming week at the trade deadline.

David Aldridge and Josh Robbins write in The Athletic today, "most sources expect the team will push for a significant frontcourt upgrade around Beal."

Michael Scotto of Hoops Hype hears the same thing: "Several people I’ve spoken to around the league believe the Wizards will look to go big-game hunting with the trade deadline coming up to keep Bradley Beal happy."

Domantas Sabonis of the Indiana Pacers and Jerami Grant of the Detroit Pistons are the big-game names the Wizards are attempting to bag.

Aldridge and Robbins hear that at least one of recent first round picks Deni Avdija or Rui Hachimura would have to be included to entice the Pacers to part with Sabonis: "One league executive described Avdija and Hachimura, both former ninth-overall picks, as potentially 'starting-caliber players' with value."

The Wizards also have veterans Kyle Kuzma and Spencer Dinwiddie to add to the mix.

As we explained on Tuesday, Dinwiddie seems to have worn out his welcome in Washington.

Should be a busy week ahead in DC.
