NBA Rumors: Jerami Grant Will Have "Serious Suitor" This Summer

Jerami Grant was one of the hottest commodities at this year's trade deadline back in February. But the Detroit Pistons decided to hang on to the 6'8" forward. Come the summer, Grant will be in high-demand once again.

Shams Charania of The Athletic reports that the Portland Trail Blazers are "expected to seriously pursue Pistons forward Jerami Grant in the offseason, sources said."

Charania reports that the Blazers have a high first-round pick to offer (from the New Orleans Pelicans), and they will "explore offering the pick should it fall between Nos. 5 and 14 in the June draft." He adds, however, that if the Pelicans pick falls out of that range and doesn't convey to Portland, the Blazers likely wouldn't have the ammo to compete with other teams bidding for Grant.

Lillard and Grant won Olympic Gold together

Blazers superstar Damian Lillard is familiar with Grant, having played with him on the US Olympic team last summer that won gold in Tokyo.

Grant is eligible for a 4-year, $112M contract extension in the offseason, and is looking to be a prime offensive option on any team he goes to. He's currently averaging 19.5 points along with 4 rebounds and 2.4 assists for the Pistons.
