Thunder Lose Star Guard For Season

The Oklahoma City Thunder continue to lose players at an alarming pace. With just seven games to go in a lost season, it appears they are clearly abandoning the season in search of even more ping pong balls at this year's draft. Star guard Shai Gilgeous- Alexander has now been shut down for the season.

Head coach Mark Daigneault made the announcement, which follows closely on the heels of top rookie Josh Giddey being ruled out for the year, and just a few weeks after three players were lost to season-ending surgery

Gilgeous-Alexander has been battling right ankle soreness at different points of the year, and he's on board with shutting it down.

SGA was once again the Thunder's leader on the floor, posting averages of 24.5 points, 5.9 assists, 5.0 rebounds and 1.3 steals.

The 23-year-old signed a max rookie 5-year extension last summer that kicks in next season, with a total value of $172M. Best to let that ankle heal up.
