The Wait Is Over: Danny Green Receives His Raptors Ring

After 1,029 days, Danny Green finally received his 2019 NBA championship ring from the Toronto Raptors.

A lot has happened for Green since winning a title with the Raptors. The 34-year-old has played on two teams and won an NBA title with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2020.

Green waited for the perfect moment to get the second of his three championship rings.

The Philadelphia 76ers guard wanted to do it in a packed crowd at Scotiabank Arena. And due to the pandemic, Green never got the chance to until Thursday night.

The Lakers' only visit to Toronto during the 2019-20 season never happened due to COVID, so Los Angeles ended up playing the Raptors in the Orlando bubble.

The following season, the Raptors were in Tampa for the entirety of the 2020-21 campaign, so that obviously prevented Green from receiving his ring in Toronto.

And when the Sixers visited Toronto earlier this season, Scotiabank Arena did not allow fans inside due to the Omicron outbreak. But alas, the wait is finally over.

Green loved his tenure in Toronto. And he even made a touching gesture to Raptors rookie Scottie Barnes, as he gifted the 20-year-old his championship jacket.

Green was a key piece in Toronto's magical run to the championship in 2019. He came along in the trade that landed the Raptors Kawhi Leonard, who led Toronto to the historic title and won the NBA Finals MVP that season.

In his lone campaign as a Raptor, the 3-and-D wing averaged 10.3 points and 4.0 rebounds while shooting 45.5 percent from three.
