Charlotte Hornets To Interview Two More Targets For Coaching Vacancy

The Charlotte Hornets are one of three NBA teams in the hunt for a new head coach, and while the team already had several names on their list for interviews, the Hornets are buzzing around at least two other candidates now as well. They've been granted permission to interview Milwaukee Bucks assistant Charles Lee, and Brooklyn Nets assistant David Vanterpool.

Lee is 37, and played internationally before spending the last 8 years as an assistant for Mike Budenholzer, first in Atlanta, and now in Milwuakee, helping the Bucks to the 2021 NBA title.

He had interviewed for the Sacramento Kings' job, also still open, but isn't one of the three finalists

Vanterpool has been an NBA assistant since 2012, and has been reconsideration for several head coaching jobs over the years. He spent seven years in Portland, before moving to the Minnesota Timberwolves for a couple of seasons, and then to join the Brooklyn staff under Steve Nash this past season.

Long-time NBA head coach Mike D'Antoni has been considered a leading candidate for the Charlotte job because of the intrigue over him working with a dynamic point guard like LeMelo Ball.
