NBA Rumors: Massive 10-Player, 3-Team Proposed Blockbuster Would Send James Harden to T-Wolves

The LA Clippers continue to wallow around near the bottom of the NBA standings in the Western Conference. Losers of 10 of their last 12 games, we're starting to hear some huge names become trade fodder, starting with James Harden.

The Beard is having his best scoring season in six years, pouring in 26.8 points per game, to go with 8.3 assists and 5.4 rebounds. But the Clippers are going nowhere fast, sitting at 6-18 and in 14th place in the 15-team West.

Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report brings us a wild 10-player, three-team trade proposal that would send Harden to the Minnesota Timberwolves. It would look like this:

Minnesota Timberwolves receive:

  • James Harden (from Clippers)
  • Chris Paul (from Clippers)
  • Jalen Wilson (from Nets)
  • LA Clippers receive:

  • Naz Reid (from Timberwolves)
  • Mike Conley (from Timberwolves)
  • Rob Dillingham (from Timberwolves)
  • Joe Ingles (from Timberwolves)
  • Tyrese Martin (from Nets)
  • $6.9 million trade exception (James Harden)
  • $8.8 million trade exception (Brook Lopez)
  • $2.7 million trade exception (Kobe Brown)
  • $2.3 million trade exception (Chris Paul)
  • Brooklyn Nets receive:

  • Brook Lopez (from Clippers)
  • Kobe Brown (from Clippers)
  • 2027 Cleveland Cavaliers second-rounder (via Timberwolves)
  • $6 million (from Clippers)
  • $1.96 million (from Timberwolves)

  • Contrary to popular opinion, Chris Paul is still on the Clippers roster, even though they've "cut ties" with him and sent him home. He is eligible to be traded as of Dec. 15th, so he would head with Harden to the T-Wolves, which would give the team a new set of two of the best point guards of this era. That would free up Donte DiVencenzo from being miscast having to play the point.

Harden would take some of the opponents' defensive pressure off of Anthony Edwards, freeing Ant up to be even more deadly. Edwards has already ascended to a career-high 28.7 ppg this season. Imagine having TWO of those types of scorers on the floor together. It would be a nightmare for defenses.

In addition, Harden's own defensive deficiencies would be covered up with the top D of the T-Wolves, including Rudy Gobert and Jaden McDaniels.

For the Clippers, they get a legit starting center for the future in Reid, who is signed to a brand new five-year, $125 million extension. And since Ivica Zubac is "their most appealing player on the trade market," as Pincus puts it, it would allow them move on from him and gain another solid asset or two.

Why do the Nets do it? They get a return of Lopez, who spent the first nine years of his career with the franchise. But more importantly, he's on an expiring contract that Brooklyn can flip, or simply buy out. they also get a look at a former first-rounder in Brown, to see what he can do with a bit more run.
