NBA Rumors: 2 Finalists For Hornets Head Coaching Job

The Charlotte Hornets are now the only team in the NBA still looking for a head coach. And according to reports, it's down to two men for Michael Jordan to choose between. He will conduct those interviews, and make the final choice, according to Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report.

Fischer writes that "former Rockets head coach Mike D'Antoni and Golden State Warriors assistant Kenny Atkinson are widely believed to be the final names under serious consideration to replace James Borrego."

He says Jordan will meet with D'Antoni and Atkinson as early as this week.

Although D'Antoni, a longtime veteran NBA head coach with plenty of regular-season success on his resume, has long been held as the favorite, in recent weeks Atkinson has been "gaining some momentum," according to Fischer.

The current Warriors' assistant even called several Hornets' staffers, according to sources, and "projected great confidence that the job would ultimately be his."

However, according to the report, the Hornets have been looking for a completely different voice than Borrego's, and "various league figures have suggested the similarities between Atkinson and Borrego may ultimately work against Atkinson, and help lead to D'Antoni's hire."

We could know the answer by end of the week.
