Sixers Have Target Return For Joel Embiid

The news hit hard a couple of days ago when it was learned that Philadelphia 76ers MVP candidate Joel Embiid had suffered a fractured orbital bone and a mild concussion and would be out "indefinitely" when they begin their second-round series with the Miami Heat this week.

But a bit better news today, as sources have told NBA Insider Adrian Wojnarowski that "there's optimism" for an Embiid return for Game 3 or 4.

Embiid will not travel to Miami for the first two games of the series, as he still needs to clear concussion protocols, as well as see doctors for his orbital fracture.

A reevaluation on Wednesday, says Woj, could possibly clear the way for Embiid's return when the series switches to Philly next Friday.

When he does come back, it's quite likely we'll see a return of "The Phantom of the Process", wearing a protective mask, as he did in the 2018 playoffs when he was also recovering from a broken orbital bone.
