Knicks Trade Kemba Walker with Newly-Acquired Rookie to Pistons

The New York Knicks are sending veteran guard Kemba Walker, along with recently acquired pick Jalen Duren, to the Detroit Pistons, per Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Duren was originally selected by the Charlotte Hornets. Charlotte received the Milwaukee Bucks' 2025 first-round pick in the three-team pact with the Knicks and Pistons.

This screams salary dump on the part of the Knicks. And it doesn't seem like Walker will stick in Detroit for long.

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Walker and the Pistons are expected to pursue a buyout. This will give the point guard a chance to become a free agent and sign with a contender.

Walker had a rough season in what was supposed to be a feel-good homecoming for the New York native.

In 37 games, Walker averaged career-lows of 11.6 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 3.5 assists in 2021-22.
