NBA Rumors: 3 Potential Destinations for Tyus Jones

Tyus Jones might very well be the best backup point guard in the NBA. Only thing is, he considers himself a starter. And he proved it by leading the Memphis Grizzlies to a 19-4 record when he was starting in place of Ja Morant this past season.

Let's have a look at three teams that could sign this underrated free agent, if the Grizzlies don't bring him back.

Washington Wizards

The Wizards have been aiming to vastly improve their backcourt to give Bradley Beal more support. Wednesday's trade to bring in Monte Morris was a start, Tyus Jones could be the icing on the cake.

Cleveland Cavaliers

The Cavs are strongly considering bringing back Ricky Rubio, though he might miss the first couple of months of the season. But Jones, according to Cavs beat writer Chris Fedor, also falls squarely in their radar. "They’d be very interested in Tyus Jones to be Darius Garland’s backup."

New York Knicks

If the Knicks are somehow unsuccessful in their pursuit of Jalen Brunson, we know they have their eyes on Jones as a fallback.

Jones is in for a raise, likely to the midlevel exception range of about $10M/year.
