NBA Rumors: Dejounte Murray "On Verge" Of Trade, Say "Multiple Sources"

Where there's smoke, there's fire. The talk has been intensifying over the last few days of a deal involving the San Antonio Spurs' breakout star Dejounte Murray. "Multiple sources" now say he is "on the verge" of being dealt. It originally appeared that the Atlanta Hawks were the destination.

And it made some sense, as Bleacher Report's Jake Fischer has related that Murray would love to play with the Hawks' Trae Young.

But wait, now we're hearing that "multiple teams" have stepped up to make a big push for the Spurs' star guard.

Spurstalk.com is not only reporting that the Hawks have stepped up their efforts, but also that  “an insider close to the situation says that the Spurs have multiple teams making a strong push for Murray besides the Hawks. One Eastern Conference team, he says, is offering three first-round draft picks and a desirable young player."

That package of three 1st-round picks is eerily similar to the haul that the New Orleans Pelicans got from the Milwaukee Bucks for Jrue Holiday—which is precisely the kind of deal the Spurs were reported to have been looking for.

Murray would be due a $200M extension in two years, something the Spurs are hesitant to offer. So it makes sense that "if San Antonio is blown away by a trade offer, they have to at least consider pulling the trigger on such a franchise-altering deal."
