NBA Rumors: John Collins Trade "Pretty Much Expected Now"

Atlanta Hawks power forward John Collins was amongst the most talked about players at the February trade deadline. The offseason now sees that chatter going into overdrive. One Insider says that a Collins trade is "pretty much expected now."

Marc Stein says in his latest Substack article, "the likelihood of a John Collins trade, league sources indicate, is as high as it's ever been."

Collins is just coming off the first year of a 5-year, $125M contract, but that hasn't seemed to scare off any suitors. Some teams, who have difficulty signing free agents, would actually be buoyed by the fact that he's under control for four more years.

The Portland Trail Blazers (who own the No. 7 pick in this week's Draft) and the Phoenix Suns are two teams Stein mentions as potential destinations.

The 6'9" power forward missed a good chunk of the season with injuries, in particular a sprained foot and sprained finger. He missed 23 of the final 27 games of the season. He finished the year averaging 16.2 points and 7.8 rebounds, while shooting 36.4% from three-point range.
