NBA Rumors: One Team Has Emerged As Biggest Threat To Steal Ayton

Now that they've set themselves up to have over $50M in cap space, the Detroit Pistons are ready to make a big run at Phoenix Suns restricted free agent Deandre Ayton.

NBA Insider Marc Stein writes this morning, "The Pistons are widely expected to make the pursuit of Phoenix Suns restricted free agent Deandre Ayton their priority."

This is the fallout from Wednesday's trade which sent Jerami Grant from Detroit to Portland in exchange for no incoming money whatsoever (a 2025 draft pick).

Stein says that Ayton "would indeed embrace the concept of teaming with Cade Cunningham to form a new Pistons two-man core."

But Pistons' GM Troy Weaver's goals don't end there. He also hopes to bring in a 2nd star with all that cap room, targeting Miles Bridges of the Charlotte Hornets and perhaps Cleveland's Collin Sexton as well.

Just call him the Dream Weaver.
