NBA Rumors: Warriors "Increasingly Expected" To Keep Key Piece

The Golden State Warriors have hopes of keeping the band together for another run at the championship next season, and the rumors today are that they are quite likely to keep an important piece of the puzzle—despite his impending unrestricted free agency.

For teams hoping to make a run at Looney on the free agent market, NBA Insider Marc Stein has some bad news for you:

There is growing pessimism, league sources say, among teams interested in pursuing Kevon Looney about the ability to pry Looney away from the newly minted champions in Golden State. Looney is increasingly expected to re-sign with the Warriors on a multiyear deal after playing a vital role in their fourth title run in a span of eight seasons.

The 25-year-old Kevon Looney has been part of three Warriors titles now, but this one has meant the most. “They’re all special, but this one was really special for me,” Looney told the San Francisco Chronicle. “Just the last few years, the ups and downs and all the things that I had to go through and the team went through to make it back to the mountaintop, it’s an amazing feeling.”
