NBA Rumors: Wizards "Checked In" On 2 Rising Stars

The Washington Wizards reportedly have been eyeing a couple of rising star guards around the NBA. Rumor has it that Washington has "checked in" on San Antonio Spurs All-Star Dejounte Murray and Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, according to Wizards insider Quinton Mayo.

The Wizards seem to be intent on getting a young stud to pair alongside Bradley Beal in the backcourt.

It is worth wondering, however, if the Spurs or the Thunder are interested in parting ways with their respective stars.

Murray had a breakout campaign, made his first All-Star appearance, and was one of the best all-around guards in the NBA this past season. In 68 games, the 25-year-old averaged 21.1 points, 8.3 rebounds, 9.2 assists, and 2.0 steals.

Meanwhile, SGA almost cost some precious ping pong balls for Sam Presti in the draft. He averaged a career-best 24.5 points per game to go along with 5.0 rebounds and 5.9 assists and won a couple of games for the Thunder this past season with some clutch performances.

Trade targets aside, Washington doesn't seem to have plans to part ways with Beal and go on a rebuild, despite all the trade chatter surrounding the Wizards star.

The Wizards have reportedly been dangling their no. 10 overall pick in trade talks.

Mayo adds that the Wizards front office is "really high" on Purdue guard Jaden Ivey. However, the 6-foot-4 guard may be too out of reach for Washington to draft, unless they are able to move up in the draft.
