NBA Rumors: Celtics and Nets Discussing Blockbuster Trade

The Kevin Durant sweepstakes took a giant step forward early Monday morning as NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski shared some information regarding the Boston Celtics offer to the Brooklyn Nets, one that included Jaylen Brown.

Woj confirmed the Celtics offer did indeed include Brown according to his sources and Boston has become a prime destination and could potentially be the frontrunner. His sources mentioned the following:

The Celtics appear no closer to acquiring Durant than others in discussions with the Nets, but Boston's ability to include All-Star forward Jaylen Brown as a centerpiece in offers does help make the team formidable in its pursuit. The Miami Heat, Phoenix Suns and Toronto Raptors have been well-known to have varying degrees of interest in Durant, but the Celtics have also been in regular contact with the Nets

The Nets are after the haul of a lifetime as they have been very stern with their stance that if Durant moves, they want a significant return that includes an NBA all-star, a young promising piece and multiple first round picks.

For instance, while the Celtics offered Brown, the Nets likely countered and asked for Jayson Tatum. Something Boston has no interest in considering. Woj believes the package sent to the Nets included Brown, three unprotected first-round picks and two pick swaps. The Celtics wing has two years left on his contract at $56 million. Expect trade talks to continue as there's no doubt about it, Boston is the frontrunner for KD as we creep closer to the beginning of next season.
