NBA Rumors: Top 3 Potential Collin Sexton Landing Spots

He's only 23, and with a 20 point per game career average, restricted free agent Collin Sexton should have some takers on the free agent market. And according to Sports Illustrated, his value has been pegged at only about $10-$12M per year. He has said he wanted to return to the Cleveland Cavaliers, but so far, there are no reports of an imminent contract.

If he doesn't return to Cleveland, here are three teams that have Sexton on their radar.

Dallas Mavericks

After losing high-scoring guard Jalen Brunson to the New York Knicks, Sexton could be just what the doctor ordered for the Mavs backcourt. NBA Insider Sam Amico noted that the New York Knicks and the Dallas Mavericks were both hot on the trail of Sexton, and that “whoever doesn’t land Jalen Brunson will make an aggressive run at Sexton, sources said. Sexton is Plan B in both of those places.”

As we now know, the Knicks have won the Brunson sweepstakes, so Mark Cuban, it's your move.

Detroit Pistons

The Pistons have been looking to upgrade their backcourt this offseason, and they definitely took a big step towards that by drafting Jaden Ivey at No. 5 in the NBA Draft. But the team still needs more scoring and shooting, and adding a proven 20 PPG scorer could be the next move for GM Troy Weaver.

Indiana Pacers

The rebuilding Pacers just traded point guard Malcolm Brogdon, so there's certainly a need here for some backcourt scoring. Again, Sexton is only 23, and is young enough to fit into their long-term plans. Sexton averaged 24.3 points in his last full season with the Cavs, in 2020-21.
