NBA Rumors: Jazz Now "Certainly" Seeking Knicks Young Star In Any Mitchell Trade

All summer, as rumors swirled about a potential Donovan Mitchell trade to the Big Apple, the word was that the New York Knicks wouldn't even consider trading RJ Barrett. And that the Utah Jazz weren't necessarily asking for him to be included. All of that seems to have changed.

"The big name here for me to watch is RJ Barrett. Because Utah certainly seeks Barrett in a deal," says Knicks Insider Ian Begley.

In mid-July, the Knicks weren't willing to give up their young swingman. Is that still the case now? "I'm not so sure," says Begley. Apparently, there isn't full agreement amongst the Knicks front office types.

"I don't think that it's a uniform opinion throughout the building with New York that they can't include Barrett in a deal. So something to keep an eye on there."

The Cleveland Cavaliers are another team that could come up with a solid package in discussions with the Jazz, says Begley. He points to their young players and draft picks as intriguing assets they could offer.

In summary, however, he confirms that the Knicks are still in the driver's seat.
