NBA Rumors: Miami Heat Linked To 7-Time All-Star

The Miami Heat lost power forward PJ Tucker in free agency to the conference rival Philadelphia 76ers. They'll need to make up that size and toughness somehow.

According to one NBA exec, the answer is a 16-year veteran.

LaMarcus Aldridge played the last season+ for the Brooklyn Nets, averaging 12.9 points and 5.5 rebounds in just about 22 minutes per game. He also shot a career-high 55% from the floor.

Heavy.com's NBA Insider Sean Deveney was told by an anonymous league executive that the Miami Heat could be a landing spot for LaMarcus Aldridge.

"Miami needs that one piece, that one big guy to push them over the top," said the exec. "Aldridge could take some of PJ Tucker’s minutes, though he is obviously not on the same level as a defender. But he can shoot it. Miami needs depth there. He’s not going to be a starter, but he can help.”

Aldridge is 37 now, and has already semi-retired once; it's entirely feasible he could decide to hang up the sneakers for good. But if not, says the report, Miami could be his landing spot.
