Ominous Injury News On No. 2 Pick Chet Holmgren

This is not what the Oklahoma City Thunder wanted to hear, just two months after drafting supremely talented 7-footer Chet Holmgren with the No. 2 overall pick in the lottery. Word is that the Gonzaga product may have a serious foot injury.

According to NBA Insider Shams Charania, exams show that Holmgren may have suffered torn ligaments in his foot, and he is undergoing further evaluations.

The injury occurred on this play in a pro-am game in Seattle over the weekend, with Holmgren trying to fend off a hard-charging LeBron James.

Even more frustrating for Holmgren and the Thunder is that the game was called early due to slippery, unsafe court conditions.

Holmgren played for the Thunder at the Summer League in Las Vegas in July, where he demonstrated his immense potential, averaging 12.2 points, 7.7 rebounds, 2.3 steals and 2.0 blocks, while shooting 42% from 3-point range.

This would be a devastating loss for the Thunder.
