LiAngelo Ball To Join His Brother At Team's Training Camp

The youngest of the Ball brothers, LiAngelo, has watched his older bros Lonzo (Los Angeles Lakers, New Orleans Pelicans and Chicago Bulls) and LaMelo (Charlotte Hornets) achieve great success in the NBA. He's hoping to get to that level, and today, for the second straight season, has signed on to join LaMelo with the Hornets.

It's a non-guaranteed deal, and although it's likely that Ball could end up with the Hornets' G League affiliate once again, he's thrilled to be at camp with Melo. “It means a lot to be here and play in front of all these guys,” Ball told the Charlotte Observer following at media day. “It’s for sure a great opportunity for me.”

LiAngelo was at camp with Charlotte last season as well, but ended up spending the year in the developmental league with the Greensboro Swarm Stats. He averaged 9.1 points in 14 minutes per game during 8 contests in the G League Showcase Cup. He shot a blistering 53.6% on threes in those games. During the regular season, he averaged a more modest 4.6 points in 28 games, with a 35.7% mark from beyond the arc.

The Hornets do have an open roster spot, so in the event that Gelo is able to put together a very strong training camp, there is still the possibility that he could earn the spot.
