Suns Sign Free Agent Forward With 6 Years of NBA Experience


The Phoenix Suns have one roster spot open as training camp is set to begin on Tuesday. This weekend, in addition to adding guard Frank Jackson, they've also signed free agent forwarTimothe Luwawu-Cabarrot.

The French-born Luwawu-Cabarrot has six years' of NBA experience, playing for five different teams. Last year with the Atlanta Hawks, the 6'7" forward averaged 4.4 points in 52 games, including 18 starts. 

His best seasons in the league were a pair of campaigns with the Brooklyn Nets from 2019 to 2021, in which he averaged 7 points and 2.4 rebounds in about 18 minutes per game in 105 contests. 

The highlight of his career, however, was undoubtedly a game last season against the Minnesota Timberwolves, when Luwawu-Cabarrot absolutely lit it up from deep.

He fired seven 3-pointers in tallying 23 points to lead the Hawks to a win over the T-Wolves. Overall, he shot a solid 36% from long range last season.  

He also played for France who made the finals of the recently completed EuroBasket overseas. In the quarter-final, he had 13 points in just 18 minutes of game time. He went 3-of-4 from beyond the arc.
