Atlanta Hawks Waive 4 Players; Roster Now Just About Set

With just over a week to go before regular season rosters must be finalized, the Atlanta Hawks took a giant step towards their 15-man limit by waiving four players on Sunday.

The Hawks are at 16 on the roster, after waiving rookie guards Malik Ellison and Tyson Etienne, as well as guard Armoni Brooks and power forward Chris Silva.

Brooks is the most accomplished of the group, having played in 54 games last season for the Toronto Raptors and Houston Rockets. He averaged 5.3 points in about 15 minutes per game. The previous season in Houston, however, Brooks put up 11.2 points and shot 38.2% from long distance in 20 games, getting about 26 minutes per contest.

The 24-year-old is likely headed to the G League, where he's averaged 12.4 points and shot 39% from three in a total of 59 games over the past three seasons.

The Hawks' 16-man roster actually includes a two-way contract, so they could conceivably head into the regular season with this roster as it stands today:
