Celtics Waive Big Man, Sign Local Kid

The Boston Celtics are shuffling their camp roster a bit, having waived big man Luka Samanic, while signing a local kid, AJ Reeves.

It's an Exhibit 10 deal for Reeves, which means he will likely be waived to join the Maine Celtics in the G League.

The 6'6" Reeves is from the Roxbury area of Boston, and was an undrafted free agent after completing four years at Providence. He's a solid defender at the shooting guard spot, but has had trouble with his shot. He was actually more reliable from distance in his final year in college (35% from 3-pt land) than anywhere else on the floor.

Reeves also played for the Celtics at Summer League this past July.

To make room for Reeves, the 6'10" Samanic was waived, but he too is destined to head to the Maine Celtics in the G League. The 22-year-old is a former first-rounder (2019 NBA Draft).
