Pistons Forward To Miss 3-4 Weeks After Scary-Looking Injury

The Detroit Pistons got some bad news just a week ahead of the start of the regular season, as they've lost big man Marvin Bagley III for three-to-four weeks to a knee injury.

The injury occurred during Tuesday night's preseason game, and the MRI revealed a bone bruise and sprained (MCL), but the Pistons are relieved that the injury wasn't anything worse.

His foot was briefly stepped on, causing him to slip and fall awkwardly with his knee twisting in an ugly-looking way.

The 5th-year power forward/center came over to Detroit from the Sacramento Kings at the trade deadline. He played 18 games for the Pistons after the trade, with 8 starts. In 27 minutes a night, he averaged 14.6 points, 6.8 rebounds.

The Pistons apparently liked what they saw enough to hand him a three-year, $37M contract extension this summer.

He'll undergo rest and rehab over the next 3-4 weeks, and hopefully be able to rejoin the team sometime in mid-November.
