NBA Rumors: Surprising Team Shows Interest In John Collins

Atlanta Hawks power forward John Collins continues to be on the trade block, in the second season of his 5-year, $125M contract with the team. And while many contenders have been noted to be in the mix for his services, one surprising team has emerged—the Utah Jazz.

"The Utah Jazz are another team, I'm told, that has made an inquiry and has shown interest in recent weeks and months," reports NBA Insider Shams Charania.

The Jazz have been stunning NBA pundits everywhere with their 12-6 start to lead the Western Conference. This all coming after CEO Danny Ainge attempted to tear the team down this past offseason by trading their two All-Stars Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell while compiling as many draft picks as he could for the future.

Now, with the best record in the West, instead of looking to trade off more assets, could the Jazz be ready to add for the present?

Collins is averaging a five-season low 12.4 points per game, 7.9 rebounds and a career-low 23.4% from long distance. But his usage rate within the Hawks' offense is also way down, no doubt contributing to the drop in his production this season.

Some in the Hawks' organization seem to wonder about his long-term fit with the team, so trade talks will continue.
