Mavericks Waive Player For Expected Jump To EuroLeague

Following three seasons overseas, he only managed to appear in three games for the Dallas Mavericks this season, but now that he's got his release, 6'5" shooting guard Tyler Dorsey could be headed straight to Monaco for a new contract.

Dorsey has already been offered 1.25 million Euros for the rest of the EuroLeague season to play for AS Monaco, according to Stavros Barbarousis of Eurohoops.

The 26-year-old second-round pick in the 2017 NBA Draft had spent three seasons in the European Leagues, in Israel and Greece. He wanted to try his hand back in the NBA this season, but only got into three games with Dallas, only averaging less than three minutes per contest.

The Mavs are bringing in NBA Summer League standout A.J. Lawson on a two-way contract to take Dorsey's roster spot. In five games in Vegas for the Summer League Mavs, Lawson averaged 15.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 1.4 assists while shooting 51.9% from the floor, and a sizzling 50% from 3-point range.

The Canadian swingman had been putting up some nice numbers in the G League Showcase Cup, averaging 19.9 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.5 steals in 13 games.
