NBA Rumors: Houston Rockets Receiving Calls On 4 Players

The Houston Rockets are 9-20, tied for last in the Western Conference. Teams around the league are making calls, seeing what they can extract from the Rockets. According to Kelly Iko of The Athletic, four players are the focus of trade inquiries.

Eric Gordon

The one is obvious. He's been the subject of trade rumors for a couple of years now, and as a 14-year veteran, he certainly doesn't match the timeline of this super-youthful team. "The Rockets are more inclined to moving the 33-year-old than at any point over the past two seasons," writes Iko

“This might finally be the year for EG,” said one Eastern Conference scout. “His contract is essentially expiring with next season being non-guaranteed and he’s on a big number. Houston can use that to take on some bad money and get an asset from some teams, but other teams still have real interest in him because he can help a contender."

Kenyon Martin Jr.

KJ is the next most-asked-about Rockets player. He had asked to be traded back in the summer, believing he was being squeezed out of the rotation. He's since recanted that request, but his usage is still sporadic. "Rival teams continue to believe the Rockets will eventually move Martin, which explains the continued interest."

“K.J. interest makes sense,” the scout said. “In a way, he’s duplication to (Jae'Sean) Tate who Houston already paid, so teams think he is attainable."

Jae'Sean Tate and Tari Eason

They've received calls on both Tate and Eason, but they are considered key parts of the Rockets' core, says Iko, and they won't be considering trade offers for either of the two.
