Charlotte Hornets Speak Out On Latest Miles Bridges Report

It raised quite a few eyebrows around the league last month when it was reported that the Charlotte Hornets were in negotiations on a new contract with restricted free agent Miles Bridges, and "making progress".

Now, the team is denying that is the case.

According to the Charlotte Observer, the Hornets have stated flatly, "We have not been engaged in contract negotiations with Miles Bridges."

It's thought the original report, which was "leaked" to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, was falsely planted by Bridges' agency, Klutch Sports.

Bridges faced felony charges over an incident with his girlfriend in late June, which included "child abuse under circumstances or conditions likely to cause great bodily injury or death." He later pled "no contest" to one felony count of injuring a child's parent.

The incident in question occurred on the eve of free agency in June, with Bridges becoming a restricted free agent. He had just come off a breakthrough season with the Hornets, but his future now is certainly still up in the air. The NBA will undoubtedly be levying a suspension as soon as he signs a contract anywhere.
