Dallas Mavericks' Luka Doncic Sensational in Close Loss to Washington Wizards

Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic had yet another spectacular game on Tuesday night that fell just short. The three-time All Star tallied 41 points, 15 rebounds, six assists, and one steal in a 127-126 loss to the Washington Wizards.

Doncic hit 16 of his 29 field goal attempts and nine of his 12 free throws. It could have been an even bigger night: Doncic missed all four of his three point attempts. It was his 10th 40+ point game of the season and his 26th double-double.

Despite superlative play by Doncic, the Dallas Mavericks are 25-24 this season and sixth in the Western Conference. Doncic can't do much more for the team: his 9.1 rebounds and 8.6 assists per game lead the team, and his 33.8 points per game lead the league. If the Mavericks can't find some way to improve the supporting play around Doncic, they may very well waste one of the most exceptional offensive seasons in recent history.

The Mavericks travel to Phoenix to face the Suns on Thursday night.
