Dallas Mavericks Sign Forward

It isn't the big move that some are expecting for the Dallas Mavericks as we approach the trade deadline, but the Mavs have brought in a big man, 6'8" power forward Chris Silva.

It's a 10-day contract for Silva, who's spent parts of the last three seasons in the NBA, but only managing to get himself just over seven minutes per game across 69 contests. He's averaged 2.8 points and 2.7 rebounds in those games.

In the G League, he's had more success. He's been averaging 14.2 points and 7.6 rebounds for the College Park Skyhawks this season, and posted 17.5 points and 9.5 rebounds last year for the Iowa Wolves.

The Mavs need the frontcourt depth, with Christian Wood and Maxi Kleber still out with injuries. Silva will provide some defensive versatility and offensive rebounding.

He'll earn $109,000 for the 10-day stint, which is likely to begin on Thursday, when the Mavs start a stretch of six games in 10 days.
