Los Angeles Clippers' Paul George Lights Up San Antonio Spurs in Blowout Win

The Los Angeles Clippers absolutely dismantled the San Antonio Spurs on Thursday night, blowing out their Western Conference rival 138-100. No player separated himself from the pack quite like forward Paul George, who scored 35 points on a scintillating 14 of 19 from the field.

George also added four rebounds and a team-leading seven assists while hitting five of eight from three. It was his eighth 30+ point game of the season and first in the new year. It was a welcome return to form for the seven-time All Star, who has averaged 23.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 5.3 assists.

The Clippers are 27-24 this season and fifth in the Western Conference despite significant missed time from George (16 games) and fellow superstar Kawhi Leonard (25 games). Extended absences have become the norm for the duo since they linked up with the Clippers in 2019: the two combined for 31 appearances in the 2021-22 season, and neither has played more than 57 games in any season with the team. Still, a healthy and dominant postseason this year would go a long way toward justifying the marriage, and they appear well on their way to avoiding the play-in tournament.

The Clippers travel to Atlanta to face the Hawks on Saturday night.
