NBA Rumors: "Belief Persists" That Kuzma Will Move On

The Washington Wizards better have a good reading on what the intentions of their burgeoning star Kyle Kuzma might be after this season. Or they risk losing him for nothing.

According to NBA Insider Marc Stein, the Wizards are confident they can re-sign him in free agency this summer, while others around the league aren't so sure.

The Wizards continue to push back on the idea that they are going to move Kyle Kuzma before the deadline, repeatedly insisting behind the scenes that they are prepared to pay Kuzma what it takes to stay after he becomes an unrestricted free agent in the offseason.

[But] The belief persists in various corners of the NBA map that Kuzma would prefer to relocate in the offseason but perhaps that is wishful thinking from teams that covet him.

If Kuzma does have the intention of "relocating" come the offseason, then it would behoove general manager Tommy Sheppard to trade him by the deadline with his value at an all-time high.

Kuzma is averaging a career-best 21.7 points, to go along with 7.4 rebounds a personal-best 3.9 assists. He's ever-so-close to All-Star territory this season.

The Wizards, however, continue to stumble along, at 18-26 and in 12th in the Eastern Conference. Do they believe that the current Bradley Beal-Kristaps Porzingis-Kyle Kuzma Big Three is what will take them to the next level?

The team has just over three weeks until the February 9th trade deadline to decide, and/or determine if there are any doubts about being able to re-sign Kuzma this summer.

As a testament to his popularity in DC, the Wizards held a Kyle Kuzma bobblehead night this weekend, featuring his outrageous viral oversized pink sweater fit.
