NBA Rumors: Clippers Linked To Jazz Guard In Trade Talks

The Los Angeles Clippers are looking for some help. They're not only searching for a backup big, but according to the latest rumors, they also have their radar planted firmly on Utah Jazz point guard Mike Conley.

According to NBA Insider Marc Stein, the Clips are looking for some help in the backcourt, and the Jazz may be ready to make a move:
The Clippers, league sources say, are exploring trade options to fortify their frontcourt beyond Ivica Zubac, but that’s not all. Sources say they also have trade interest in Utah's Mike Conley Jr. amid a rising belief leaguewide that the Jazz — who have tumbled to No. 9 in the West at 22-24 after their great start — could become a much-needed seller at this deadline.

With John Wall out for at least two weeks with an abdominal strain, their need has become even more acute, as defacto starter Reggie Jackson had been dropped from the rotation four games ago.

Fellow Insider Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports notes that the Clippers had expressed interest in Conley as far back as the summer, before deciding to bring in Wall as their backcourt upgrade.

Conley is in his 16th NBA season, his fourth with the Jazz. The 35-year-old is averaging 10.2 points and 7.5 assists, though his 3-point accuracy is down this year, to 34.9%, after two straight seasons over 40%.

Reggie Jackson had been averaging 11.1 points and 3.7 assists as the starter for 38 games, but Terance Mann has taken his spot in the starting lineup over the past week+.
