NBA Rumors: Two Teams Linked To Gary Trent Jr.

Gary Trent Jr. will be hearing his name a lot in the rumor mill over the next four weeks. Leading up to the Feb. 9th trade deadline, Trent, the impending free agent, is considered the most likely of the Toronto Raptors to be dealt.

A report from Brett Siegel at SI Fan Nation has the Phoenix Suns and New York Knicks interested in the small forward.

Both the New York Knicks and Phoenix Suns are two teams that have a level of internal interest in Trent ahead of the deadline, sources close to both organizations tell Fastbreak on FanNation.

However, the asking price Toronto for Trent has not been revealed and rival executives believe that the Raptors will be aiming to add immediate draft capital given their recent struggles this season.

Earlier this week, we brought you word that Trent is "undeniably" available on the trade market as team president Masai Ujuiri and the Raptors try to determine their way forward.

It's most likely that the Raptors will take this next month to see how the team performs to determine whether or not they're going to stay the course, or go the tanking route.

The Suns are definitely a team that could use another wing scorer, and a player that can create his own shot like Trent. With Devin Booker out of the lineup, the Suns have lost 9 of their last 10 games.

The Knicks are also looking for another scorer, and Trent could certainly fit nicely on their roster as well.

Trent has been on fire recently, and is averaging 18.5 points on the season, shooting 36.7% from three, but over 40% since the beginning of December.
